Welcome Post

Ok so I've never blogged before because I think it's kind of weird to put a bunch of personal stuff up on the internet so I may be bad at this. Anyways, I guess I'll tell more about myself...

I'm from Austin, but technically I live in the country on Lake Travis. I went to school in Marble Falls and Austin so I've seen the small town and the city perspective. I am an only child and am pretty close to my parents and my dog (who are all in NM right now).

I am now a senior, which is hard to believe, and I am majoring in psych and minoring in spanish. I have actually been waiting to take this class since I got here because social was the area of psych that first interested me and pretty much why I chose the major. I was initially thinking I would go into marketing or advertising so psych made sense. However, after getting involved with the Peer Mentoring Program on campus I decided that I may head towards business management (different I know). Anyways, I'm minoring in Spanish because I want to travel all over, starting with Spanish-speaking countries and I am determined to be fluent one day (I have 3 span classes this semester and am practicing with my maid every chance I get)!

Majoring in psych has been slightly different for me because I never thought about working in the field. My perspective will always be a little off from the group probably because I see it more as tool than a final goal. I think it is fascinating (especially social) and has helped teach me how to think but I prefer to apply what I have learned from psych to other areas.

All in all I am very excited about this class! See you guys next week!
